What is Human Trafficking?

Considered to be a form of modern day slavery, each year, women and children are forced into human trafficking and being used for sexual purposes like prostitution. It involves the use of force, fraud, or coercion for the purpose of exploitation (i.e. labor or commercial sex act).

The average victim of Sex Trafficking may be forced to have sex up to 20-48 times a day.

How prevalent is Human Trafficking today?

Miami is under the top three cities with the most cases of sex trafficking in the United States, having a 54% increase from the previous year.

Specifically, Miami is known as being one of the top three cities for trafficking.

However, what is occurring in Miami is only a small fraction of these crimes, as it is an international issue with approximately 27 million slaves in the world.

It is estimated that about 600,000 to 800,000 women and children are trafficked across national borders annually in the U.S.

Approximately 300,000 children are at risk of being Commercially Sexually Exploited Children (CSEC) victims in the United States.

Human Trafficking generates $9.5 billion yearly just in the United States, and $32 billion yearly.

What is branding?

Traffickers will often brand their victims using tattoos, burns, or scars to assert and claim ownership over the victim’s body. Erasing these tattoos grants survivors a future unbound from their past.

What is the laser tattoo removal process?

After filling out our application form or having been referred to Unbound Miami by our selected partners, we will then proceeded to scheduling a preliminary consult with the survivor. The consult will dictate the method of removal for the branding.  Most cases utilize laser tattoo removal provided by Miami Ink Off.

How does laser tattoo removal work? Is it painful?

The machine used at Miami Ink Off is the Cutera Enlighten Laser, with dual wavelength and dual pulse duration, producing superior results.

Tattoos are removed by lasers that emit short pulses of intense light that pass through the top layers of the skin to where the ink is located. The light breaks the ink into tiny, dust-like particles that are readily absorbed by your body, and eliminated through its natural processes.

Why are multiple sessions required when using laser tattoo removal?

Tattoo ink is deposited deep in the skin. In order to reach all of the ink in the skin, multiple treatment sessions are needed for clearance. Depth size and color of the tattoo also impact the number of treatments needed.

During the preliminary consultation, our experts will predict the number of sessions required for removal. The number of treatments vary depending on the age, composition, depth, and the color of the ink, as well as the size of the tattoo.

Are there any side affects following the laser tattoo removal treatment?

Most patients experience redness immediately following the treatment. Although everyone responds differently to treatments, side affects are temporary. Patients generally return to regular activities immediately following the treatment.
